Christmas In CAK
December 24th, 2006Yet another Christmas on the road, and ironically enough I am spending this one in Akron, same as last year. Today is day 2 of 3. Not so bad really. The first day was a long one with 6 legs of almost 8 hours flying. At least the weather was good. I can only imagine how bad it could have been. The day started with a schedule change for me, moving me from the 200 over to a 700 and a DAY-CLT-ATL-CLT and then back to my original schedule of a 200 to TLH and back and then finished up by going to Chattanooga. We got into CHA early enough for me to run to get something to eat at the burger place near the hotel. Mmm Mmm Mmm.
Somewhat early show the next morning (6:30 van, not too bad really) led to a mess at the airport. There were only 3 people working and the supervisor called in sick. Of the 3 people working, one normally worked evenings and had no idea how to open, one was brand new and one seemed to know what to do. We had to deice and while boarding the evening guy had the bright idea to get started. We managed to stop him before he sprayed glycol in the cabin door. Once we did finally button up they sprayed us down (with the new worker almost getting run over while trying to watch). After that we departed for Charlotte and made it with out incident.
After a short sit there we managed to get a few non revs on board an almost full flight. The weather in Akron had gone down slightly so we needed an alternate. It was fine by the time we got there however and broke out at 2000 feet.
We got to the hotel at 11 am. The FAs husband had driven up from Cinci to spend Christmas with her. All 4 of us went out to a late lunch at Applebees before they closed early. Not too bad for a holiday schedule. Tomorrow unfortunately I have to get up at 3:45am. Yep, Santa will still be out then. At least I get to go home tomorrow night.
